We are extremely proud to announce that Misje Eco Bulk AS in cooperation with Wärtsilä Norway have signed a new-building contract for up to ten new eco-friendly bulk vessels at Sri Lanka’s Colombo Dockyard.
The vessels will be powered by a hybrid propulsion system combining marine gasoil and battery. This enable the vessels to sail in and out of port as well as perform cargo operations completely emission free. Further, the highly efficient hull lines will lead to considerably lower fuel consumption during sailing thanks to the minimized resistance. These factors combined will reduce the cargo emission footprint significantly, as NOx is eliminated and CO2 and SOx emissions strongly decreased.
Additionally, the vessels are designed to be converted to zero emission as technology emerges.
Leading Norwegian companies such as Corvus Energy, Norwegian Greentech and Wärtsilä among others are providing equipment and technology to the project.
All of the eco-bulkers will have a capacity of about 5000 DWT and a LOA of 89,95m.
The first vessel of the series is scheduled for delivery in 18 months and the subsequent vessels will be delivered in four-month intervals.
